The girls team have been busy in the last few weeks. On Wednesday 24th, the girls were away at Spring Grove. They had not played as a team since before Christmas so it took them a little while to get into the match! However, they were a good match for Spring Grove and for most of the match it was stalemate. Lauren produced some fantastic saves to keep us level, but in the end it ended 1-0 to Spring Grove.
The star players (as chosen by Spring Grove) was Lauren and Eve.
The girls team and the boys B team played Willesborough. The girls put on a much better performance than against Spring Grove, upping their game and worked hard. However, due to some impressive performances from a few Willesborough girls, the team lost 4-0. The boys played well but due to missing some players, also lost 4-0.
Wye v Willesborough A and B – Term 1 2015-16
Today was a great win for Wye football team A and B. Our B team played really well; we conceded 2 goals and we scored 6. Well done to Dhilan (the B team’s captain) for managing the B team so well. Also well done to Ryan (captain for the A team) for managing the squad today.
The A Team conceded only 5 goals and scored 11. Well done to all the boys who played today and special thanks to Kyle, who is a year five who stepped up and played amazingly.
A Team – Ryan (c), Jimmy, Mason, Ellis, Matthew, Daniel, Ben, Mackenzie, Kyle, Owen
B Team – Dhilan (c), Thomas, Louis, Sam, Owen, Mason, Matthew, Alfie, Daniel

The girls played their first match of the season against Smeeth. The girls were superb, with excellent direction and leadership from both Alisha and Olivia. Some great football led to a final score of 9-2.
Well done to: Alisha, Olivia, Molly D, Camilla, Lauren, Molly G and Bertie. Hopefully Eve will be well enough to play next time!
The boys have begun the Football League, with both the A and B teams playing Kennington. Wye A won 5-1, with Ed scoring 4 goals and Jimmy scoring 1. Wye B won in a tight match against Kennington, with the final score 5-4. What a great start to the league! The next matches will be against St. Teresa’s.
Mini Series Football Coaching
At the end of Term 1, we were lucky to have Laurence (who most of the school know from Wye Tennis, but also plays for Hythe Town FC) and Matt Burt (a local goalkeeping coach) come in to coach some Year 5 and 6 pupils at lunchtime. Approximately 30 children went out to play a series of mini football matches which they thoroughly enjoyed. The children enjoyed a lunchtime of football with some excellent play and sportsmanship. Hopefully Laurence and Matt will be in again for a lunchtime club with the lower juniors!
